Afterall, we couldn’t very well call ourselves a full-service drone company without giving our customers the most efficient pathway to compliance. Before or after the sale, our Director of Compliance Sam Welton will work with you in all aspects of compliance and regulatory needs for safe, licensed, and successfully (compliant) drone operation.

Meet Sam Welton, Terraplex Director of Compliance

Sam Welton serves as the Director of Compliance at Terraplex Ag, bringing expertise in unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and regulatory compliance. Joining the Iowa Army National Guard as a UAV Operator, Sam operated the RQ-7B Shadow from 2015 to 2021. After completing Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, Sam was trained in UAS Ground School, Unmanned Scout Operations, Vehicle Combat Identification, Simulator and Flight Lines courses, earning certification on the Shadow platform at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. After returning to Iowa, Sam concurrently served as a Title 32 technician in logistics for the Iowa Guard. Transitioning to civilian life, Sam worked as a Department of the Army civilian in logistics at Iowa State University’s ROTC. In 2021, Sam co-founded a custom application drone company, leveraging extensive UAS experience from the military, now geared towards agriculture. Since joining Terraplex Ag in Fall 2023, Sam helps customers attain necessary regulatory compliance items such as individual Part 107 Certifications and 44807/Part 137 Exemptions and Operating Certificates. Passionate about driving innovation in compliance, Sam enjoys mentoring newcomers on regulatory and safety standards while also working to advance regulations for the UAS agriculture industry as a whole.
